Wigan reject Tottenham bid for Wilson Palacios

Published by admin on January 15, 2009

Wigan have rejected a huge offer of £10million from Tottenham hotspur for midfielder Wilson Palacios.

Palacios has won plenty of admirers this season, his second at the JJB Stadium after leaving Birmingham, where he also played under Latics boss Steve Bruce.

The 24-year-old Honduras international has made 22 starts for Wigan this season but chairman Dave Whelan told reporters last night Spurs’ bid was ‘not enough money’.
Whelan stressed he was ‘asking for more’ than the £10m offered by the London club for a player who has been key to his side’s rise to seventh in the Premier League.

‘They can come back or forget it, £10million is not enough for him so we will wait and see what they do,’ Whelan said.

‘We are looking for more than that. It would be unfair for me to tell you what we are talking to Tottenham Hotspur about. It is private business but we are looking for more than that, that’s for sure.
