Chelsea African Stars off the African Cup of Nations

Under Fifa rules, state associations have a right to call up their players fourteen days before a competition and Halilhodzic is sticking to his guns notwithstanding a plea from Ancelotti, the Chelsea boss. “Officially the players have to go fourteen days prior to the start of the African Cup of Nations,” Ancelotti asserted. He’d like to have the players, every one of them who are concerned in the Premiership, on December twenty-seven.

Drogba’s early exit has been made worse by the injury to Anelka, whom Ancelotti had been depending on to point him thru a hard period. Only yesterday Ancelotti made public his aim to employ the Frenchman as a lone striker the month after next, but must instead turn to Sturridge and Borini, because Anelka is not likely to be absolutely fit before the Barclays Premier League match against Hull City on Jan nine.

Ancelotti is adamant that both children have his confidence in spite of never having scored for the club, and claims that the shortage of bodies won’t require him to find reinforcements in the transfer market this month. Sturridge has been restrained by injury to 5 appearances since signing from Manchester Town last summer, but did play a vital role in winning the arguable penalty converted by Frank Lampard against West Ham United on Sun. . Borini has played six matches this season as a substitute. Sturridge will make his first Premier League start for the club alongside Drogba on Fighting Day and is probably going to be partnered by Borini when Fulham visit Stamford Bridge.

“It’s not a good moment for his injury, but I suspect that Anelka will be back quickly,” Ancelotti expounded. “Sturridge has a chance to show his qualities. He played against West Ham very well in that 2nd half and perhaps against Birmingham he can play from the start. “We have plenty of confidence in all my strikers. I did not ask for new players, we have good solutions internally, even if we lose the African players. Chelsea’s Christmas results in recent times have been lackluster, but Ancelotti is assured his side can maintain their four-point lead in the Premier League. “These are vital games, but we are in a good position at the top,” he claimed. “We’re not in our best moment as we failed to play well in the last few games, but due to this we must stay concentrated to attempt to win our next matches. They know it is a crucial moment in our season. Also, as we have some wounds, perhaps it’s important to give something more.”.
